New Standing Seam Roof in Fort Collins, Colorado

We recently completed the installation of this new standing seam metal roof in Fort Collins, Colorado. The previous roof was worn-out asphalt shingles. The homeowners chose standing seam for several reasons.

Fire-Resistant

First, it’s highly fire-resistant. When a hot ember lands on a standing seam roof, it will either self-extinguish or blow off. Although all asphalt shingles are also Class-A fire rated, they’re not nearly as fire-resistant as standing seam.

Appearance

The homeowners also liked the appearance of a standing seam roof. They thought it looked ‘cool’. In a neighborhood of homes with traditional asphalt shingles, a new standing seam roof in Fort Collins stands out.

Energy-Efficient

Speaking of cool, energy efficiency is another reason why they chose a standing seam roof. No other roof is as energy-efficient as standing seam. That’s because no other roof reflects as much of the sun’s heat as standing seam. These Fort Collins homeowners can expect to see the difference on their utility bill this summer.

Fewer Reroofs

The homeowners also wanted a roof that would last longer, resulting in fewer reroofs. After all, getting your roof replaced is no joy. It’s noisy and dusty, and having our large roll-off dumpster in your driveway is a bit of a hassle and an unpleasant sight. Instead of having a traditional asphalt shingle roof replaced every 15-25 years, the proud homeowners won’t have to replace their new standing seam metal roof for a very long time. That’s because it should last them 70 years or more.

New Seamless Gutters and Downspouts

We also replaced their aging gutters and downspouts with new seamless gutters. The fascia in some areas was leaning inwards, so we fabricated on the spot some spacers so the gutters could be level again. We also fabricated latches for the downspout extensions so the homeowners could swing them up so they’re not in their way for mowing, etc.
