New Metal Roof Installation

There are many reasons to request a new metal roof install in Colorado. The primary reason is that metal is more durable than any other roofing product. Why? Metal roofing, whether it’s stone-coated metal shingles or sheet metal, resists hail, fire, wind, snow, rain, rot, etc. better than other roofing products, such as asphalt shingles.

Metal resists strong winds better because there are fewer seems to it. Metal also uses screws as fasteners instead of nails, which are used on most other roofing products. Metal roofing isn’t flammable, unlike wood shake. It’s stronger than most other roofing products, so it resists hail better. Due to its slick surface, heavy snow fall slides right off a new standing seam roof.

Because it’s more durable than other roofing products, a new metal roof installation lasts longer. Metal roofing is among the longest last roof in Colorado at 70 years or more. Since a metal roof lasts so much longer than, for example, wood shake, it often costs less in the long run.

Metal roofing is also recyclable in Colorado, unlike asphalt shingles. Sure, there are asphalt shingle recycling centers elsewhere in the country, but not in Northern Colorado. We’ve checked.

Stone-Coated Metal

We replace a lot of wood shake roofs with stone-coated metal. As wood shake roofs wear-out, homeowners and business owners are requesting metal shingles. They are doing so because they see the value in a new metal roof in Colorado. They see that wood shake and metal shingles cost about the same to install, but metal last 3 or 4 times longer. Also, they’re appreciating that metal shingles resemble their previous wood shake roof fairly well. In fact, from a distance, stone-coated metal shingles are mistaken for wood shake.

A lot of our customers are also requesting we replace their asphalt shingle roofs, as they wear-out, with stone-coated metal shingles or tiles. They are doing so because they want a roof that lasts longer. Traditional roofs last between 25 to 30 years, on average. A new metal roof, on the other hand, should last 2 to 3 times that.

Standing Seam

Standing seam roof installation in Colorado is becoming popular. A lot of homeowners and business owners are choosing a new standing seam metal roof over other roofing products. We’re also seeing a combination of asphalt shingles and standing seam. Some contractors are accenting their asphalt shingle roof with standing seam, in an attempt to make their new construction stand-out.

If you’re looking for a roof that helps cool your home during the hot summer months, and help lower your summer utility bill, look no further than sheet metal, such as standing seam or corrugated/PBC. New sheet metal roofing has the highest combined solar reflectivity and heat emittance. Solar reflectivity refers to a roof’s ability to reflect sunlight and heat away. Emittance refers to a roofs ability to release absorbed heat.

Corrugated/PBC

We install more corrugated/PBC metal roofing for farms and industrial applications. That said, any building with a roof pitch greater than 3/12 can have a new corrugated metal roof installed. Corrugated metal is actually superior to standing seam because it doesn’t have any flat surfaces. Hail can dent a flat surface. Corrugated refers to the wavy profile of the material. The peaks and valleys of corrugated metal its strongest points. When a hail stone strikes here, the hail often shatters. When hail hits between the peak and valley, it simply deflects away.

Corrugated/PBC has all the other perks of standing seam: it has a cooling effect during the hot summer, it helps to lower your summer cooling bill, it comes in dozens of colors, is recyclable, is resistant to everything such as fire, wind, rot, rain, and snow.
